Ten years ago today, I was sitting in my quaint apartment in Taipei, accompanied by my sparse furniture (one bed, one chair), and uploaded a video. In it, I quit my job. Swiftly and loudly. On September 28th, a decade ago, I unapologetically pivoted.
What followed was a career of extraordinary highs and unimaginable lows. I’ve worked nearly 50 different jobs (not exaggerating, I counted 47) ranging from dog sitter to TV writer. My career hasn’t been easy, nor lucrative, but goddamn has it been interesting.
Most humbling of all, each job has led me here, to this attic in Portland, where I write to you today. Ten years to the day I quit my toxic, soul-sucking job. I am sitting in my quaint home, accompanied by my most beloved things (my dog, some books), and am uploading a video. Same thing. Different place. In every sense of the word.
I am grateful for the people I’ve worked with over the past 10 years, the various crews, collaborators, writers, and bosses; all of whom have helped get me here today. I am so happy to be here. So thank you for that.
Oh, and before I go: a special thank you to my dear friend Demi Adejuyigbe, who immaculately scored this video. And a forever thank you to Sam, my cinematographer and off-screen dance partner.

Jabrina! Truly feel lucky to be part of the montage that makes up your life. That is content, my baby.
Love the new vid, Marina. Everything you do is so inspiring. I always gasp with delight when I get a notification that a new Marina post is up.
